Embogo lodges derives its name from the word “Embogo” meaning buffalo in the local Rukiga Dialect. The area where our lodge is located is a popular hangout for Buffalos and Elephants among other animals. The marshy grounds around the lodge offer an escape for buffalos to cover themselves in the mud giving them much needed relief from ticks and parasites.
The lodge, a first of many to come is a one – woman’s dream. She felt the need to invest back home and help better the lives of people in her community. Once you stay at Embogo lodges you are directly helping in feeding a family or keeping a child in school. Part of our profits go towards supporting Kameme Devine Primary School.

Getting There:
By air from Kihihi, Embogo Lodges can be accessed in 45minutes, by road via Mbarara, Ntungamo, Rukungiri route to Kihihi and finally Ishasha there is an 8hours drive. Alternatively from Kampala via Mubende-Fort portal road through the park is an 8-9hours drive on a dirt road to Ishasha sector, if you are transferring from Mweya peninsular, it’s only a 2hours drive.
The lodge can also be accessed from Kasese through Queen Elizabeth National Park on a 2-3hours’ drive, a famous route for various butterfly species and sighting wildlife en-route.

Embogo lodges are 45 minutes from Kihihi Airstrip for a fly-in safari for clients interested in the tree climbing lions and a typical African wilderness, with an extension to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for gorilla tracking.
Drive via Mbarara, Ntungamo, Rukungiri route, to Kihihi and finally to Ishasha on a 7 – 8-hour journey. On this scenic journey, one can make a stopover at the Equator and Nshenyi Cultural Village to explore the Ankole culture.
